Der kleine Gothic Fan in mir hat sich irrsinnig gefreut, als ich von der Formation ORDER OF ISAZ gehört habe, die das "gute alte" Gothic Genre wieder aufleben lassen wollen und als dann auch noch Johnny Hagel, der ehemalige Bassist von TIAMAT verlautbaren ließ, dass man bei dem lange erwarteten Debütalbum "Seven Years Of Famine" sofort merkt, dass er für Hits von seiner Vorgängerband verantwortlich war, war meine Neugierde entfacht.
Aber was steckt nun hinter dem geheimen "Orden von Isaz"? www.earshot.at hat versucht es herauszufinden und bat Johnny Hagel zum Gespräch:

Hi! Danke, dass du dir die Zeit für dieses Interview genommen hast! Zuerst mal Gratulation für euer neues Album „Seven Years Of Famine“!
Also kannst du dich und deine Band für die Österreichischen Leser, die euch noch nicht kennen einmal vorstellen?


Als erstes haben wir da mal Tobias Sidegård, Ex-NECROPHOBIC, als Sänger, dann Anders Bentell an den Drums und zu guter Letzt mich, Johnny Hagel, Ex-TIAMAT am Bass.




Warum habt ihr euch dazu entschlossen, diese Band zu gründen? Ich meine, eure früheren Bands TIAMAT und NECROPHOBIC laufen ja gut.


Wir wollten alle etwas machen, von dem wir glauben, dass wir es in der Musikszene vermissen. Heutzutage gibt es nicht mehr viele Bands, die so klingen wie wir und darum wollten wir diese Lücke ausfüllen.


Was bedeutet euer Bandname ORDER OF ISAZ?


Das ist unsere Bruderschaft, fast wie ein eigener Klan.


Kannst du eure Art der Musik beschreiben? Würdest du es als typischen Gothic Metal bezeichnen?


Das obliegt nicht uns unseren Musikstil zu beschreiben, wenn du glaubst es klingt nach Gothic Metal, dann ist das okay für uns. Wenn jemand was anderes sagt, dann ist das auch okay. Wir spielen und schreiben einfach nur was uns gefällt.


Was findest du an eurer eigenen Musik und vor allem dem neuen Album so speziell? Warum sollte man es sich kaufen?


Warum es so speziell ist? Wir lieben es einfach gute Songs zu schreiben und diese dann auch dementsprechend zu performen. Eure Leser sollten es sich auf jeden Fall anhören, denn es ist ein verdammt gutes Album mit wirklich genialen Songs darauf!


Glaubst du, dass ihr die gute alte Gothic Szene wiederbeleben könnt?


Ja das hoffen wir, aber das ist jetzt nicht der Grund, warum wir uns zusammengetan haben.


Ich habe gelesen, dass es sieben Jahre von der Gründung der Band bis zum Release des aktuellen Albums gedauert hat. Also erklärt sich der Titel des Albums ("Seven Years Of Famine") ja selbst. Aber was sind die Gründe, dass es solang gedauert hat?


Es hat nicht wirklich sieben Jahre gedauert, aber es sind halt viele Sachen in der Zwischenzeit passiert und wir glauben alle, dass es wert war zu warten.


Wer von euch schreibt die Lyrics und wer die Musik? Oder ist es eine Gemeinschaftsarbeit?


Bei der Musik ist es von Song zu Song verschieden. Die Lyrics hat auf diesem Album Tobias geschrieben.




Was kannst du mir über das Albumcover erzählen? Symbolisiert es den langen Weg zu "Seven Years Of Famine"?


Ja, dass ist eigentlich eine gute Beschreibung dafür.


Plant ihr ein Musikvideo für einen Song des Albums?


Ja wir hoffen dass wir mindestens 1-2 Videos machen können.


Wann dürfen wir euch live sehen? Plant ihr eine Tour oder spielt ihr diesen Sommer auf Festivals?


Wir haben für den Sommer noch keine Festivals geplant, aber wir hoffen, dass wir im Herbst einige Gigs spielen können.


Mögt ihr es auf Tour zu sein? Gibts Situationen, die ihr sehr daran schätzt oder gar nicht?


Ich persönlich liebe es ja live zu spielen, aber wenn man auf Tour ist und 23 Stunden wartet um dann eine Stunde live zu spielen... das Warten ist scheiße...


Und habt ihr schon Pläne für ein neues Album?


Wir starten diesen Sommer an neuem Material zu schreiben, also ein zweites Album wird es auf jeden Fall geben. Wir haben auch noch ein paar Songs, die nicht aufs aktuelle Album gekommen sind, also gibts vielleicht dieses Jahr noch eine EP.




Gibts spezielle Geschichten über euch, die ihr euren Fans nicht vorenthalten wollt?


Die Leuten sollten versuchen, ihre eigenen Geschichten zu erleben, geh hinaus und du wirst sie finden. Diese Welt ist verrückt...

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with EARSHOT.AT!
Congratulations to your album “Seven Years Of Famine”!
So, can you introduce the band to the Austrian readers who do not know you jet?


First we have Tobias Sidegård (ex Necrophobic) on vocals then Anders Bentell on drums and at last me, Johnny Hagel (ex. Tiamat) on bass.


How came the decision to form this band? I mean, you got former members from TIAMAT and NECROPHOBIC, bands which do well…


We all wanted to do something that we thought was missing in the musical-scene. Today there is not many bands that sounds like we do so we wanted to fill that hole.


What’s the deeper meaning of your band name ORDER OF ISAZ?


It is our brother-hood, almost like a clan.


Can you describe your kind of music? Would you call it a typical kind of Gothic Metal?


It is not up to us to describe it, if you think it sounds like gothic metal that is ok for us. If anyone else have a different opinion that is also ok. We just play and write what we do.


What do you think is special from your music and your new album? Why should our readers hear it?


What is special ? We like to write good songs and perform them in a good way. Your readers should listen because it is a damn good album with really good songs.


Do you think you can renew the good old Gothic Metal scene?


We hope so but it is not the reason why we play together.


As I read it took seven years from the beginning of the band till the release of your current record. So the title is explains itself. But what where the reasons it took you so long?


It didn´t really take seven years but many things happened during the way and we think it is worth the wait.


Who among you writes the lyrics and who does the music? Or are you doing everything all together?


With the music it differs from song to song, on this album Tobias have written the lyrics.


What can you tell me about the artwork of the record? Does it symbolise the long way to “Seven Years Of Famine”?


That is a good way to describe the cover.


Do you plan a music video for one of the songs on the record?


We hope to record at least one maybe two videos from the album.


When can we expect to see you live? Are you planning a tour or are you playing on festivals this summer?


We haven´t booked any festivals this summer but we hope to do some gigs during the autumn.


Do you like touring? Are there any situations you don't like or like most?


I personal like to play live but when you tour you wait for 23 hours and play for one hour….the waiting sucks….


Do you have plans for the next record?


We will start writing this summer so there will be a second album for sure. We also have some songs that didn´t made it to the album and maybe we will release a ep later this year.


Are there any special stories you don't want to deprive your fans?


People should try to get their own stories, go out there and you will find them. The world is crazy….


Any last words to your Austrian fans?
